The Remedy: Positive Pressure Ventilation & Under Floor Sump Systems

Drimaster Ventilation SystemA slight negative ‘pressure’ or vacuum prevails in most properties. This draws radon gas up from below ground. The Drimaster system creates a gentle but positive pressure throughout the home and reverses this situation.

The Nuaire DM system draws filtered, dry and often warm air from the loft, directing it through a central ceiling diffuser into the hall or landing.

With natural convection and regular window opening only one or two changes of air will occur. With the DM system, up to 15 complete changes of air per day throughout every room are made, displacing radon laden air by dilution and the positive pressure reducing Radon coming up from underground into your home.

If you have damp/condensation problems giving black mould spots on walls, the Nuaire system is equally effective at curing these problems. It dries the whole property out without any additional heating.

The Nuaire system blower is installed in the loft and costs approximately £12 a year to run. No maintenance or adjustments are required, just a change of filters every 5 years which we will do.

The Nuaire Drimaster 2000 unit has warm air recovery system, a small sensor in one of the rooms measures temperature. When the loft is warmer than the room below, the blower speed increases to give a free boost to you house heating. Subject to our survey of your property, we are confident, the system would reduce radon levels and in addition would cure any musty/mould smells and any wall mould problems you may have, as long as these are due to condensation.

5 Year Guarantee

Nuaire is a large and very experienced company based in Wales. Their wide range of fans are manufactured in the UK. The Nuaire Drimaster carries a 1 year parts and labour guarantee and a 5 year parts guarantee.

Many Nuaire DM systems have been installed in private and local authority housing with complete satisfaction over the last 20 years.

Recently many of our DM systems were installed for Penwith Housing Association.

If tests show Radon levels are particularly high an under floor sump system can be installed. This requires a hole boring through the wall and creating a cavity or sump under the floor concrete. A high volume extractor is fitted outside to draw Radon laden air out form under the floor. Usually this can be done without disturbance inside the home. Unfortunately it is very difficult to install this system in granite built properties.
